The role
As a Data Engineer at Kustom, you’ll design, build and maintain reliable, well-tested data pipelines and models across our data warehouse and streaming ecosystem. You’ll work closely with analysts, data scientists and product teams to deliver clean, trusted data that drives decisions and powers features.
You’ll join a team that values pragmatism, clarity and strong engineering fundamentals: version control, CI/CD, testing, documentation and ownership. You are comfortable in an environment where not all answers are known to us - and where we solve problems as a team, drawing on each person's experience to build our foundational architecture together.
Things you'll be doing
Implement scalable, high-performance data processing pipelines that enable us to generate insightful analytics.
Integrate internal and external data sources to enrich our existing data entities.
Own and evolve data modeling (dimensional / wide-table / event-based) for BI, experimentation, and product use cases.
Optimize performance and cost across Databricks jobs, dbt runs, and storage.
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business questions into robust datasets and definitions.
Help shape the roadmap for tooling, architecture, and governance as we scale.
Skills and experience you'll need
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
3+ years of professional experience in data engineering.
Strong proficiency in SQL and data modeling.
Deep experience in dbt or equivalent modular data transformation frameworks.
Strong understanding of medallion architecture or equivalent data design patterns to logically organize data at scale.
Familiarity with Spark or equivalent data processing frameworks.
Experience in modern data warehousing tools like Databricks, Snowflake and BigQuery.
Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a dynamic startup environment.
We believe you'll thrive in this role if you have
Enjoy building reliable systems and take pride in creating clean, well-structured data models that others can trust.
Care about quality - you write tests, review code thoughtfully and document your work so it’s easy for others to understand.
Are pragmatic and solution-oriented. You focus on delivering value without over-engineering.
Feel comfortable working in a growing environment where not everything is fully defined yet.
Communicate clearly and enjoy collaborating with analysts, data scientists and product teams.
Take ownership of your work and follow through - from understanding the problem to delivering a robust solution in production.
Think long-term about maintainability, performance and cost, not just the immediate task.
Are curious and motivated to continuously improve how we build, model and use data.
Benefits
Robust pension plan with national and occupational components
Excellent health insurance coverage, including long-term illness protection and salary exchange options
Annual wellness allowance of 3,000 SEK to invest in your health and fitness
