The role
As an Infrastructure Engineer at Kustom, you’ll play a key role in building and evolving the platform that powers one of the most trusted checkout solutions in the Nordics. You’ll work across cloud infrastructure, data, networking and observability to ensure our systems remain secure, scalable and resilient as we continue to grow.
You’ll collaborate closely with engineers across product, backend and data to design solutions that support high availability and low latency. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys solving hard technical problems, driving automation and enabling teams to ship with confidence.
Things you'll be doing
Designing, building and maintaining scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS to support high-traffic, mission-critical systems
Managing and improving our Kubernetes environments, ensuring smooth deployments, strong security and reliable performance
Implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to automate provisioning, configuration and change management
Enhancing observability across services using Datadog (metrics, tracing, alerting) to ensure fast issue detection and resolution
Optimizing PostgreSQL databases, including schema design, indexing and performance tuning
Working with event-driven systems and streaming platforms like Kafka to support real-time data flows
Collaborating with backend teams to design and deliver resilient architectures and efficient deployment pipelines
Driving continuous improvements in automation, tooling and reliability across our infrastructure
Troubleshooting complex production issues related to performance, scaling, networking or distributed systems
Contributing to documentation, best practices and cross-team knowledge sharing
Skills and experience you'll need
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
Extensive hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services core services (EC2, CloudFront, RDS, S3, etc.)
Strong expertise in Kubernetes and container orchestration best practices
Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar tools)
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (VPC, routing, load balancing, DNS)
Experience with observability platforms like Datadog for metrics, tracing and alerting
Solid understanding of PostgreSQL, including schema design, indexing and query optimization
Familiarity with event-driven architectures and data technologies such as Kafka
Strong programming skills in Java (Spring Boot)
Proficient in Git for version control and collaboration

Ability to diagnose and solve complex performance, networking and scaling challenges
A track record of driving automation, reducing toil and improving operational efficiency
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and explain complex systems clearly
Strong commitment to infrastructure-as-code, testing and high-quality documentation
